최영수(Choi Young Soo) 

30여년 동안 면세산업의 현장에서 일한 저자는 한국 면세산업이 오늘날 세계 1위의 자리로 오르기까지 전 과정을 생생하게 지켜본 한국 면세의 산 증인이다. 1978년 중앙대학교 영어영문학과를 졸업하고 같은 해, (주)호텔롯데에 입사하여 롯데면세점 창립멤버로 조인하였으며 이후 상품기획 부문의 MD로 활동하며 거의 모든 명품 브랜드를 한국에 최초로 유치했다. 2008년에서 2012년까지 롯데면세점 대표이사로 재임하며 한국면세협회 회장을 역임했다. 인도네시아 자카르타공항에 첫 해외 매장을 여는 등, 한국 면세점의 해외 진출에도 적극 나섰다. 일본과 중국 관광 객을 대상으로 한류와 관광을 엮은 면세점 투어를 개발하여 본격적인 ‘한류 쇼핑관광 시대’를 이끌었으며 관광산업에 끼친 공로를 인정받아 2001 세계관광의 날 국무총리상, 2009 한류특별공로상(한국관광공사)을 수상하였다. 특히 2009년에는 정부로부터 철탑산업훈장 수상, 2012 세계 Travel Retail 특별 공로상(Trinity Forum, Seoul)을 수상했다.
